1) Mark 13.1-13
2) Mark For Everyone, pages 176 - 180
3) Redeemer Presbyterian Sermon, This World Won't Last Forever
Discussion Questions
1) In chapters 11 and 12, Jesus has symbolically enacted judgment on the temple, claimed authority over the temple, judged the leaders of the temple and affirmed that the two great commandments are much more important than the temple. How do the opening verses of chapter 13 indicate that the disciples still haven't understood what he's saying?
2) How does Jesus say his followers should act as they live through events that will lead up to the destruction of the temple (verses 5-13)?
3) In verse 13, Jesus says we need patience to hold onto our faith in the midst of difficulties. Have you found that to be true? How can we cultivate deeper patience?
