Discussion Topics
- NT Wright says the the Old Testament promises of justice needed to get retrieved, renewed, and re-worked in the light of Jesus. Do you think the church is succeeding at that? In places where it is failing, how is it failing?
- During Old Testament times, there was a commandment to the Jewish people to keep separate from the world in order to fulfill their role. How has that traditional commandment caused problems in the later church? What are the the major changes brought about by the new covenant in the New Testament regarding this?
- How do you understand the “Kingdom of God”, which is so central to the message of Jesus in the New Testament?
- In the Ephesians passage, Paul says that heaven and earth are joined in Jesus. What does it mean to be citizens of heaven and earth simultaneously?
- The Old Testament vision of justice is to be displayed and modeled by the Church as a sign of hope for the world. How should we be doing this?
